DESIGNING A GARDEN OF PEACE

POSSIBILITIES AND LIMITS FOR RESPONSIBLE USE

The Garden of Peace – Two Pathways, One Shared Root

The Garden of Peace is an open and flexible project that offers communities two ways to participate:

1️⃣ Dialogue Among Nations

This pathway uses 21 olive varieties, each originating from a different country.
They symbolise cultural exchange and the diplomacy of peace.
Each tree is accompanied by an explanatory plaque indicating its origin — a testament to unity in diversity and to the dialogue among peoples through the culture of the olive tree.

2️⃣ Territories of Sustainability

This pathway represents the global diffusion of the olive tree through 25 representative varieties, five for each of the five continents.
In this case, the country of origin is not specified; instead, the focus is on the areas where each variety has developed and spread, expressing peace with the Earth and a collective commitment to a sustainable future.

He will be pleased to provide all necessary information and to accompany you throughout the process.

Spaces of Encounter and Beauty

Every Garden of Peace is a shared space where nature and culture come together.
It hosts workshops, events and ceremonies, becoming a vibrant place that brings together education, art and community participation.

Ethics and Shared Responsibility

To preserve its integrity, the use of the garden is strictly reserved for educational, scientific, environmental and social purposes.
Any use for political, commercial or propaganda purposes is prohibited.
Failure to respect these principles will result in the withdrawal of official recognition and the removal of the garden from the international Garden of Peace network.

Communities as Guardians of Peace

The association devotes particular attention to small local communities, often the keepers of precious traditions and landscapes.
For this reason, it encourages the creation of multifunctional spaces where cultural activities, concerts, fairs or community workshops can take place.

Memory, Future and Territories

During the creation of a Garden of Peace, intergenerational collaboration is essential: young people plant the future, while elders preserve the memory of the olive tree.
In the Territories of Sustainability, the focus is placed on valuing natural and cultural landscapes rather than political ones: mountains, deserts, coastlines and plains become part of a global narrative of harmony, where peace takes root in the land and grows with those who cultivate it.
