THE PROJECT

THE OLIVE TREE AS A UNIVERSAL SYMBOL OF PEACE

Paciano

The Origins in Paciano, Land of Peace

In the Umbrian village of Paciano—whose identity is inspired by Janus Bifrons, the god of Peace and new beginnings—the idea of creating olive gardens as symbols of harmony and reconciliation first took shape.
From this place, where past and future meet, The Garden of Peace emerged: a project that transforms nature into a universal language and the beauty of the olive tree into a message of fraternity among nations.

The olive tree, a millenary plant, is the heart of the project: a symbol of wisdom, strength and rebirth.
Like the branch carried by the dove after the Flood, it represents peace renewed—linking humanity to the Earth and standing as a living emblem of hope that transcends borders.

From the Heart of Umbria to a Global Breath

From Paciano, this “land of peace,” the idea has expanded worldwide, weaving together people, cultures and territories united by the same ideal.
Over time, The Garden of Peace has given life to two complementary projects, different in approach yet rooted in the same principles of cooperation and respect between humanity and nature.

In the next chapter, you will find the presentation of the two pathways that today form the soul of the project:
“Dialogue Among Nations” and “Territories of Sustainability.”

Two Pathways to Create a Garden of Peace

The Garden of Peace is an open and flexible initiative that offers communities two ways to participate:

Dialogue Among Nations: 21 olive varieties from 21 different countries, symbolising cultural exchange and the diplomacy of peace.
Territories of Sustainability: 25 varieties, five from each continent, expressing harmony with the Earth and a shared commitment to a sustainable future.

The Value of a Shared Space

The Garden of Peace is conceived as an open space where communities can meet, connect and collaborate.
Each garden becomes a point of reference for its territory: a place where caring for the olive trees encourages dialogue, participation and mutual respect.
Through collective activities and shared experiences, these green spaces become concrete symbols of coexistence and responsibility towards the Earth.

Beyond the Garden: Experiences That Bring People Together

Every Garden of Peace is more than a symbol — it is an experience to be lived.
It promotes sustainable tourism, supports local communities and preserves the memory of the territories in which it grows.
Events, exhibitions and educational activities transform these places into living laboratories of peace and cooperation, where nature and humanity meet.

“Every olive tree is a silent messenger of hope and peace.”
