Distribution: Mainly in the province of Granada, with a total of some 10,000 hectares under cultivation.

Agronomic and commercial considerations: It is a very old variety, with historical references attesting to its origin as the oldest variety cultivated in south-western Europe. It has a spreading canopy with high density, with intense green leaves that acquire a silvery tone when ripe. It is a very vigorous variety. Productivity is low and alternate. It enters production late and ripens early. The fruit has little resistance to detachment, which facilitates mechanised harvesting. It has a high fat content. It is sensitive to the olive leaf spot (Cycloconium oleagineum) and to cold.
