From Paciano to the world

It all begins in Paciano, a small Umbrian village overlooking Lake Trasimeno, where the olive tree becomes the concrete sign of an idea: creating Gardens of Peace in which local history, agricultural landscapes and communities can meet.

Why a Garden of Peace

A Garden of Peace is a real place, not a slogan: you can reach it, walk through it, touch it. Here, themes such as peace, the environment, rights and coexistence move beyond conferences and become concrete actions: planting an olive tree, caring for a row of trees, sitting in the shade to listen to a story.

The page “THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A GARDEN OF PEACE” shows how these spaces respond to global challenges with local actions, offer stable educational programmes, and give voice to those who are often unheard: schools, young people, fragile communities, animals and border territories.

Designing a Garden of Peace

At the heart of every Garden of Peace is a unique model: 21 olive varieties originating from 21 olive-growing countries, selected from the World Olive Germplasm Bank collection of the University of Córdoba. Each tree tells a story of a territory: from the Mediterranean to deserts, from coastlines to the heart of the Middle East, and as far as the landscapes of the American continent.
