The Garden of Peace and Zagaria’s Germplasm Field: An International Collaboration
On June 29th, during the visit to the Germplasm Field of Zagaria, located in the charming province of Enna, the president of The Garden of Peace association, Francesco Serafini, met with representatives of the Free Municipal Consortium of Enna, including the Special Commissioner Girolamo Di Fazio, Consultant Andrea Scoto, Service Manager Antonio Aveni and Press Office Manager Rossella Inveninato. This meeting opened new perspectives of international collaboration for both parties.
The Biodiversity of the Olive Tree in Zagaria and Its Importance
During the visit, it was made clear the value of the biodiversity heritage represented by olive trees from different olive-growing countries. These native varieties, carefully preserved in Zagaria, play a significant role in the conservation of biodiversity and in the enhancement of the olive tree. One of the proposals is to draft a memorandum of understanding between the Free Municipal Consortium of Enna and The Garden of Peace, which would promote the field of Zagaria as one of the official suppliers that the association will use for the new peace gardens. In this way, the germplasm field of Zagaria will become a fundamental connection point between Mediterranean countries and beyond that adhere to the project. The Garden of Peace is therefore committed to enriching the Zagaria collection with missing varieties.

The olive tree has always been a symbol of peace and coexistence among peoples
The creation of the Garden of Peace in Zagaria, with its twenty-one varieties from different countries, will represent an important meeting point between different cultures. This garden will promote unity, tolerance and cooperation among nations, fostering mutual understanding and harmony.
